Volunteer Training Session of Zigong's Salt Industry History Museum Successfully Concludes

On 18 October 2023, Zigong's Salt Industry History Museum held the 2023 student volunteer training session. More than 20 students from the School of Chemical Engineering of Sichuan University of Science & Engineering participated in the activity. By doing so, the Museum aimed to give better play to its public service function and improve its voluntary services.

A science popularisation lecture on "Salt and Zigong" by a science popularisation instructor of the Salt Industry History Museum

The training session was divided into two parts: the science popularisation lecture and the on-site explanation and training. First, Liao Xuewei, a science popularisation instructor at the Salt Industry History Museum, introduced to the participants the basic situation of the Museum, the service content of the volunteer explanation, and the schedule of volunteer training. Then, Ms. Liao gave a vivid science popularisation lecture themed "Salt and Zigong" to students through PPT. When asked about the lecture, the students said that they had a deeper understanding of their second hometown Zigong. They also hoped that they could learn how to offer explanation services and become volunteer commentators to promote Zigong as soon as possible.

After the lecture, the students had a guided tour of the Museum's basic exhibition "History of China's Well Salt Science and Technology" to get familiar with the basic content of the exhibition hall service and the route for explanation.

Under the guidance of professional commentators, the students trained in the explanation service, including postures, gestures, speed, content, and skills. They listened carefully, made notes, and actively participated in learning, creating a great learning atmosphere on site.

Through the training session, the students not only gained professional knowledge on explanation but also strengthened the friendship between them. In the subsequent training, professional commentators will assess each student and give suggestions. Those who pass the assessment will provide explanation services to tourists from all over the country on weekends and during the "golden week" holidays.
