Zigong Geopark participated in Workshop for Geopark Managers in Hongkong

During 25-28th, March, 2013, Zigong Global Geopark was invited to participate in the First Workshop for Managers in Hongkong. The workshop was hosted by Hongkong Global Geopark and Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. Two experts of GGN and delegates of 13 geoparks from China, France, Germany and Japan attended this workshop. Delegates of Zigong Global Geopark communicated with other delegates, sharing ideas about park construction, management experiences, science popularization and community participation.

In the four-day workshop, representatives of Zigong Global Geopark listened carefully to the keynote of experts and scholars from all over the world, participated in the case design and discussion, and explored the geopark development model. In interviews with two experts, Dr. Marie Luise Frey (GGN expert) and Ms. Sylvie Giraud (promoter of European Geopark Network) discussed the opportunities and challenges of Zigong Geopark, and also put forward some valuable suggestions for Zigong. Ms. Sylvie Giraud was impressed by Zigong dinosaurs, hoped that some cooperation projects can be promoted to strengthen connection between Zigong Geopark and European Geopark Network.

Besides, Zigong delegates also visited geopark electronic classroom, geopark trails, visitor center of Hongkong Geopark, and communicated with delegates from Bergstra?e-Odenwald Global Geopark (Germany), Itoigawa Global Geopark (Japan), Hongkong Global Geopark and Hexigten Global Geopark.

In Hong Kong, Zigong geopark shared tour guide presentations, broadcasted beautiful propaganda, and distributed convenient brochures, all of that played an important role in park promotion.





The First Workshop for Manager provides a platform for the domestic and foreign geopark, Zigong Global Geopark will cherish the similar opportunity and to strengthen interaction activities between parks in the future, in the scientific popularization, community participation, further enhance media promotion, make the concept of geopark rooted in the community, promote strong and stable community and economic development.
