On 8 March 2023, Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark and Zhangye UNESCO Global Geopark held a signing ceremony in Zigong to establish a sister geopark relationship. The two parties reached a consensus to enhance their interaction and shared educational experiences, and supply each other's needs within areas such as geological site conservation, science popularisation and education, research, tourism promotion, informatisation, and sustainable progress. They intend to engage in comprehensive dialogues and initiate pertinent collaborations to foster the joint development of their geopark undertakings.
